Biketour: Vissensteert route

The land of Peel and Maas lies in between the Maas and the Peel. At a relatively small surface many different  landscapes  are present.

A lot of moorland around the former upland moor of the Peel  were transformed  into an agricultural area or were afforested  with conifers. The former Peel doesn’t exist anymore. The formerly wilderness has been changed into an area of agriculture and animal farming.

For the draining of the Peel there have been dug canals, ditches and trenches. Peat streams like the Vissensteertlossing, were canalized to drain the water as quick as possible. The route is described extensively in the ANWB cycle guide North and Middle Limburg, together with 20 other regional routes.
