Boundless cycling fun
The RurUfer Radweg follows the meandering River Ruhr from its source in Belgium to its mouth in Roermond. This cycle route braves a number of beautiful natural areas. The start of this route is at the source of the Roer in the Hoge Venen nature reserve in Belgium. Then, this cycle route runs through Germany towards the end point, at the mouth of the Roer in the Meuse, in Roermond.
Discover diverse landscapes
From the starting point of the RurUfer Radweg, you will reach the picturesque town of Monschau after 20 kilometres. You then cycle through the Ruhr Valley (Rurtal) in Germany towards Germany's second-largest reservoir, the Roer Reservoir. While cycling, discover the beautiful landscape in Eifel National Park. The route then leads through the German lignite area and the Heinsberger Land towards the Netherlands.
Dutch section RurUfer Radweg
Twelve kilometres before the mouth of the Ruhr in the Meuse, the RurUfer Radweg passes the German border and the last few kilometres cycle on Dutch territory, past orchards and vegetable fields. The end point of the RurUfer Radweg is in the historic centre of Roermond, where the water flows from the Roer into the Meuse.
Please note: We offer the (extensive) cycling map of this cycle tour only in German.
