When the castle was blown up by the Germans in 1944, the stations were also damaged. In the years after the war, many stations were vandalised.
The eight coloured stations are made of terra cotta. They come from the Stations of the Cross of the parish church, dating from 1843. After the destruction of the parish church on 17 November 1944, these stations were preserved. The Kessel Tourist Foundation restored them and placed them in 1992 to replace the destroyed white stations.
The castle wall dates back to the year 1651/52. The gate gave the noble family direct access to the altar of the old, attached church.
