From the car park, where you can park for free, on the Sprunklaan, you cycle left to the Baron van Erplaan. This turns into the Markt (distance is about 2 minutes).
The cycle route starts at cycle junction 58 on the Markt in Baarlo. Starting village Baarlo is an atmospheric village with a rich past. It is known for the castles of d'Erp, De Berckt, Scheres, De Raay and the castle farm Huis Oyen. There are also many works of art by the artist Tajiri to be found here. Tajiri lived and worked at Scheres Castle until his death.
After Baarlo comes the village of Kessel. Already in Roman times, Kessel was a strategic village by the river. Kasteel De Keverberg, dating from the 12th century, forms a beautiful backdrop, especially after the striking rebuilding in 2015.
In Helden, you will find the attractive square De Pool, with an old water pump, a kiosk and the St. Lambertus church, which dates from the 15th century. The Heldense Bossen nature reserve with its characteristic shifting dunes borders directly on Helden. After Helden, you pass Panningen, the shopping centre of the municipality of Peel en Maas. TIP: visit the centre of Panningen by turning right (instead of left) on Hoekerstraat in Egchel. Follow this road and you will arrive in Panningen, where many shops and terraces can be found.
Meijel is a real Peeldorp and Maasbree is known as a garden village. Garden village Maasbree is situated between the nature areas of Dubbroek, Lang Hout, Asbroek and Winkel. The Dubbroek is an old Meuse arm that silted up over thousands of years. Now the area has a rich variety of plants and birds.
