The Gerdeneer
The nursery mainly houses some 60 species of herbs, unusual leafy plants and edible flowers. Especially restaurants and cooking enthusiasts like to use the crops from his nursery. De Gerdeneer enjoys it when enthusiasts visit the greenhouse, especially the inexhaustible creativity among cooks is a source of inspiration for new ideas!
Since 2015, de Gerdeneer has also been making cider; a special drink fermented from freshly pressed apples. These apples not only come from his own orchard, but are also collected from natural orchards with historic varieties throughout Limburg. The apples from these standard orchards, which are unsprayed, unfertilized, and never see pesticides, make their best contribution to the ultimate end product: cider!
But much more is happening at the Gerdeneer. A 3-acre parcel of former farmland has been transformed by the Gerdeneer over nearly 25 years into a landscape garden full of culinary delights. In 2022, the Gerdeneer began building a regional store and test greenhouse, a cozy place under glass with an orchard where visitors can learn about their products and delight in fresh and artisanal produce from the region.
A variety of fruits and vegetables grow there, but it is also just lovely to hang out.
