Baarlo
Baarlo is a village with a rich history. In Roman times it was situated on the Via Mosae. The road along the Maas which brought the Romans from North-Limburg to the South in their time. In Baarlo there are four castles.
Art
Besides the characteristic castles, Baarlo is also the village of the Cobra artist Shinkichi Tajiri, who died in 2009. His works of art can be found throughout the village. You can often recognise Tajiri's works in Baarlo by the buttons (see image). In this way, you literally walk along buttons during this junction route. Tajiri is also known for the Watchmen sculptures on the Maas Bridge in Venlo.
