You cycle along the river forelands, through hamlets and through the dense forests near the German border.
The route starts at the car-bike ferry Kessel-Beesel on the Meuse. In Beesel you will find various activities, souvenirs and decorations that refer to Sint Joris en de Draak. Once every 7 years this centuries-old tradition is even performed as a grand spectacle. In picturesque Asselt you will find beautiful terraces along the water. This lovely church village was once a heavily armed Norman fortress. In the year 881, the Danish Crown Prince Godfrey sailed the youngster from England up the Limburg Meuse and set foot ashore at Asselt. From their fortress, the Vikings plundered abbeys, churches and cities such as Maastricht, Leuven and Aachen.
In a number of places in and outside the village, stories from this era can be heard, among other things about the dark Pact of Asselt.
